STEAM
EDUCATION & PROJECT BASED LEARNING
At I Love Cal City, we believe education doesn’t stop at the classroom door—it’s everywhere. The best learning happens when everyday activities become opportunities to explore, create, and problem-solve. That’s why we weave STEAM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) into everything we do.
Sometimes it’s hands-on science demonstrations at our Farmers Market booth. Other times it’s hidden in a real-world challenge—like figuring out how much paint it will take to restore a fence in our House to Home program.
CITY IMAGE
City Image is dedicated to restoring pride and beauty in California City by improving the way our community looks and feels. From removing graffiti to repairing, replacing, or removing worn and damaged signs, we tackle the visual issues that affect our city’s first impression. Working alongside local organizations and volunteers, we also enhance targeted areas with thoughtful improvements that bring charm, color, and life to public spaces. Every project helps create a cleaner, more welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
CLEAN CAL CITY
Clean Cal City is our community-wide effort to keep California City beautiful, healthy, and welcoming. We organize regular clean-ups in parks, streets, and public spaces—working side-by-side with residents, volunteers, and local groups. Beyond picking up trash, we focus on building pride in our city, educating participants on ways to prevent litter, and encouraging everyone to take ownership of the spaces we share. Together, we’re not just cleaning up—we’re creating a cleaner, stronger, and more connected community.
HOUSE 2 HOME
House to Home is a hands-on community outreach program that helps residents with basic home repairs while building relationships, sharing skills, and offering encouragement. Each project is completed side-by-side with the homeowner, creating time for meaningful conversation and personal connection. Skilled volunteers, learners, and encouragers work together to teach practical repair and maintenance skills, foster a strong work ethic, and strengthen community bonds. At its heart, House to Home isn’t just about fixing houses—it’s about transforming lives, restoring dignity, and creating homes filled with hope and purpose.
Leadership California City is an annual program designed to help residents better understand how our city works and how they can get involved. Participants learn about the processes of city government, discover where to go and who to talk to for different needs, and gain practical guidance for engaging with local leaders and agencies. The program builds knowledge, confidence, and connections—empowering community members to make their voices heard and work effectively for positive change in California City.
LEADERSHIP
CALIFORNIA CITY
NOTHING NEW
UNDER THE SUN
NNUTS: Nothing New Under the Sun is our creative reuse and sustainability program, where innovation meets resourcefulness. We encourage the community to repurpose, recycle, and reimagine materials—turning “what’s old” into something new and valuable. Through art projects, skill-sharing workshops, and small-scale entrepreneurial opportunities, NNUTS inspires residents to see the potential in what they already have. It’s about reducing waste, fostering creativity, and building a culture of sustainability in California City.
City Talk is the media branch of I Love Cal City, dedicated to sharing stories, history, and important information about our community. From our California City History page and upcoming interviews with early residents, to our lighthearted Ponder Sessions podcast exploring questions about local life, City Talk brings our city’s past, present, and future into focus. During election season, we host candidate interviews and public forums so voters can hear directly from those running for office. Looking ahead, City Talk will expand with videos, interviews, and features that inform, connect, and celebrate the people of California City.
